KCCA FC and Kampala Queens Football Club have officially announced a partnership that will span three years, commencing on July 1, 2023, and concluding on June 30, 2026.

The agreement entails Kampala Queens becoming the exclusive women's football team for KCCA FC, while the latter will serve as the sole men's team for the Queens in all official competitions.

The move is providence of a Confederation of African Football (CAF) regulation that every club taking part in its flagship men’s competition – the Champions League and Confederations Cup – should be associated or own a women’s football side.

The regulation will come into effect next season. KCCA will play in the Confederations Cup, the partnership is one that further solidifies their preparations for the competition.

Kampala Queens will also be representing Uganda in the Women’s CAF Champions League, after winning the FUFA Women Super League last season.

This partnership also represents a significant step forward in promoting gender equality in Ugandan football and strengthening the sport at all levels.

By aligning their efforts and resources, KCCA FC and Kampala Queens FC hope to inspire future generations of male and female footballers to pursue their dreams and push the boundaries of the game.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kampala Queens Football Club aboard," KCCA said in a statemen.

"This partnership symbolizes our commitment to promoting women's football and fostering an inclusive environment for players of all genders.”

“Together, we aim to elevate the status of football in Uganda and showcase the immense talent that exists within our nation,” the statement added.

Throughout the partnership, Kampala Queens FC will maintain its distinct brand identity, although the team will now call MTN Omondi Stadium its official home ground.

This move is expected to enhance the visibility and support for women's football within the country, providing a platform for both clubs to thrive.

One of the key elements of the collaboration is the commitment by KCCA FC to offer technical expertise and knowledge exchange opportunities to Kampala Queens’ coaching staff.
