KCCA FC will face the winner between Tunisian side Olympique de Béja and Abu Salim from Libya in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

KCCA FC head coach Sergio Traguil has rallied his team to prove their might on the continent when they start their 2023/24 CAF Confederations Cup in September.

The Kasasiro Boys were handed a bye to the second round due to their superior ranking over the teams that were available in their pot.

The development means that KCCA is 180 minutes away from the prestigious group stage of the second-most prized club tournament on the continent.

Traguil feels that the ranking shows that the club is still rated highly but needs to do better to prove that when they meet the winner between Tunisian side Olympique de Béja and Abu Salim from Libya.

“Whichever club that comes will be tough, but we shall be very ready for them,” the Portuguese reacted to the bye and draws.

He adds: “It (the bye) shows that KCCA has a big name on the continent but that means that we have to [work hard and] show it in the game. Being big should not be in words but we have to show it in the game and show that we deserve to play in the group stage,” he rallied his players.

KCCA FC is not rated according to the 2023/24 CAF-five-year ranking that lists the best 70 clubs on the continent.

Vipers is the only club from Uganda that is ranked after reaching the group stages of the CAF Champions League last season; the Venoms are ranked 47th.

The club will have the privilege to travel for the first leg in Tunisia or Libya between September 15th and 17th before hosting a fortnight later.
