The Venoms are set to feature in the CAF Champions League, while KCCA FC will compete in the Confederation Cup.

Uganda's representatives in the CAF interclub competitions in KCCA FC and Vipers will learn about their opponents in the preliminary round on Tuesday.

The Venoms are set to feature in the CAF Champions League, while KCCA FC will compete in the Confederation Cup.

Fifty-Four clubs from 42-member associations are participating in this year's edition of the CAF Champions League, while 52 clubs from 41-member associations will compete in the Confederation Cup.

"The preliminary stages draw will be conducted on Tuesday 25th July 2023 at 14h00 Cairo time at the CAF Headquarters starting with the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup followed closely by the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League," part of the statement read.

KCCA FC is the only Ugandan club featured in the group stages of interclub competitions, the Confederation Cup in 2017 and the Champions League the following season.

The Kasasiro Boys will return to continental football for the first time since 2021.

Still, Vipers, who last season featured in the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in their history, will be hoping to better their performance this season.

African giants Al Ahly are the current holders of the CAF Champions League; at the same time, Algeria's USM Alger are the reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions after they overcame Khalid Aucho's Young Africans.

Both KCCA FC and Vipers SC have beefed up their squads in anticipation of performing well in the inter-club competitions.

Portuguese Sergio Traguil will lead the Kasasiro side, while Brazilian Leonard Martins Neiva will lead the Kitende-based side.
