Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first goals for Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey triumph over Las Rozas.

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has finally gotten off the mark for Sevilla, as he scored twice in the Copa del Rey first-round clash against Las Rozas.

Iheanacho's struggles

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla on a free transfer in the summer after his contract with Leicester City expired. However, unlike his compatriot Chidera Ejuke, who has set LALIGA alight, Iheanacho has barely made an impact.

The Nigerian has struggled for game time this season, racking up a mere 271 minutes in the league, with Sevilla having played 11 matches already.

As Pulse Sports reported, coach Garcia Pimenta promised to give the former Manchester City man more playing time. He started him in their opening cup game, and the Nigerian rewarded him by scoring twice in a 3-0 victory.

Iheanacho breaks the duck

Sevilla for all of their possession dominance, struggled to break down the opposition until the 40th minute, when Stanis Idumbo’s cross was deflected in for Luis Mendez.

Iheanacho got his first and Sevilla's second around the hour mark when he tapped in from close range from a Juanlu Sanchez cross.

He doubled his tally in the 79th minute. Initially laying off the ball to his teammate for an easy finish, Iheanacho had to take the chance for himself after Peque Fernandez failed to take the assist.

It remains to be seen if Iheanacho has done enough to start against Real Sociedad this weekend, but he has certainly done his chances a boon.
