Nwakali Sends Message To Nigerians, Super Eagles
With Chaves trailing 1-0, Nwakali unleashed a thunderous strike from distance in the 65th minute to draw his side level and get them back into the game.
The former Arsenal youth player showcased his technical ability and powerful right foot with an unstoppable effort, leaving the Casa Pia goalkeeper with no chance.
Despite Nwakali's heroics, Chaves were unable to hold on, as the visitors scored two more goals to secure a 3-1 victory.
However, the Nigerian's performance will have delighted his supporters, who have been eagerly awaiting a breakthrough moment for the talented midfielder.
Nwakali, who has struggled for regular playing time in recent years, completed 92% of his passes, created one chance, made one key pass, and was successful in all his dribbles and tackles.
The goal will be a timely reminder to Nigeria coach Finidi George of Nwakali's qualities, as the Super Eagles look to build towards the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
With his undoubted talent and potential, Nwakali will be hoping that this strike can be the catalyst for a strong finish to the season and a potential recall to the national team setup.
