The Harambee Stars coach was unimpressed with his team's performance, despite a successful start to the Mauritius four nations series.
Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has revealed his displeasure at his side’s performance despite registering a win over Pakistan in their opening encounter at the ongoing Mauritius four nations tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
A goal by Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shummah in the 18th minute was enough to give the Kenyans the win, but there were aspects about their performance that did not please the Turkish head coach.
“I am not happy because we did not play the way I wanted,” he said, “we did not pass the ball quickly enough,” he added.

FKFPL: From Tusker outcast to Harambee Stars goalkeeper: The rise of KCB's Bryne Odhiambo
The KCB custodian aims to establish himself as Harambee Stars first choice goalkeeper.
“Pakistan played deep and were close to each other. They played the game like a final. Of course we had a lot of opportunities but it does not change the fact that I was not happy with the way we played.”
The former Eintracht Frankfurt assistant coach blamed a lack of cohesion amongst the players that came into the side as the reason the side struggled to find some rhythm especially in the second half.”
Firat made seven changes to the side that started against Iran in March, including first starts to defender Collins Shichenje, goalkeeper Bryne Omondi and Shummah
“Of the first XI that played in Iran in a match, seven are not here. We had a lot of new players and three made their debuts today so we did not really play to the level I expected. Some of our players are also not used to playing in artificial turfs because we do not use those. We won but I am not happy at all.
Midfielder Richard Odada was named man of the match, as he was the only player who looked like he could make things happen, finding penetrative passes from deep, carrying the ball forwards and also doing his defensive responsibilities well.
Kenyans will be hoping he can replicate that performance against Mauritius on Sunday from 2:00 PM local time.
