The ministry’s main interest is learning football management from Morocco and incorporating it in Kenya's sports revival plans.
Sports CS Ababu Namwamba is burning the midnight oil to ensure standards of sports, specifically football in the country is raised as Kenya bids to host the AFCON in 2025 and make it to the World Cup in 2030.
The CS met up with the Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Abderrazzak Lassel in the ministry’s offices on Wednesday, April 26, to discuss the areas of collaboration and partnership targeting sports.
It was noted that the ministry’s main interest is taking lessons on football management from Morocco and incorporating it in the sports revival plans. Through the ministry, the CS has rolled out a robust plan to revive the sports ecosystem in the country.
During last year’s World Cup in Qatar, Morocco stunned the world as they became the first African team to get to the semifinal of the global event and Kenya is keen to learn how that was made possible.

Sports PS Jonathan Mueke said digitization will make their work easier as they search for talent in the grassroots.
In a post on his Twitter account, the CS revealed that the Kenya Academy of Sports shall be working with the Mohammed VI Football Academy of Morocco in order to actualise Kenya’s dream of participating in the World Cup and hopefully make history there.
“Through Talanta Hela, we are twinning Kenya Academy of Sports with the Mohammed VI Football Academy of Morocco.
This was part of the discussions with Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya Aderrazzak Lassel, who paid me a courtesy call. Walking with the best to become the best,” the post read.
