The country has secured another international match after FIFA lifted its suspension.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that Harambee Starlets will play Albania in an international friendly.
Starlets, just like their men counterparts, who are set to play Iran on Tuesday, March 28, will be in action for the first time since a FIFA suspension was lifted.
"The Senior Women National Team, Harambee Starlets, will play an international friendly match against Albania on April 11, 2023, in Tirana.
"Albania is ranked 78 places above Kenya in the FIFA Women’s Ranking. The team reports to camp on March 30, 2023, and leaves for Albania on April 8, 2023."
After the friendly has been confirmed, eyes will be opened to see which players will be selected for the game
When Engin Firat, the Harambee Stars head coach, named his provisional squad for the Iran friendly, it set tongues wagging as some expected names were missing.
Fans will be eager to know whether the players who won the 2019 CECAFA Women’s Challenge Cup will be retained.
The CECAFA-winning starlets have since made names for themselves since conquering the region over two years ago
Recently, Cynthia Shilwatso sealed a move to the Ukrainian top flight after signing a one-and-a-half-year deal with ZFC Kryvbas.
The move came after the forward left Fountain Gate Prince, a Tanzanian side for which he scored nine goals and provided four assists in 11 league games.
Other players expected to be called up are Mwanahalima ‘Dogo’ Adam, Dorcas Shikobe, Annette Kundu, Esse Akida – who has been missing from the national team for many years now after allegedly falling out with the FKF hierarchy - Neddy Atieno, and Terry Engesha.
The high-level friendly for Starlets comes after Firat called for such games that he believes will help Kenya become a competitive football nation.
