Kariuki's post on her Facebook page had suggested she quit the Gunners

Just a day after Bernice Kariuki hung up her gloves as an Arsenal chef, she has now come out to reveal that she did not actually quit the Gunners.

Kariuki had announced her departure from the 13-time Premier League champions on Sunday, ending her two-year stay at the 13-time premier league champions.

"A final day flourish. Finished the season with a bang! Simply the best!!! Arsenal… Arsenal… Arsenal.. 2020/2023, the best special season ever.

I hang my gloves as a very proud chef, it’s been an honor working for the best club in the whole world. I was truly humbled," she wrote on her Facebook page.

However, a few hours after her post, Kariuki clarified that she had not quit her job at Arsenal as the post insinuated. In an exclusive interview with Chams Media on Tuesday, May 30, Bernice said she is a private chef serving many clients across the UK.

"It's fake news, I'm a private chef. I'm not hired by anyone. While still offering my services to Arsenal, I have been contracted to work with top chefs in 'Highest Kitchen' in the UK. That girl from Jericho, still evolving," she clarified.

The 52-year-old Kariuki is an alumnus of London’s Westminster Kingsway College, where she studied culinary arts.

She has worked at top hotels across the globe, including The Lanesborough, The Dorchester, and The Waldorf Hilton.

Kariuki started cooking for Arsenal after former Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang recommended her to the club, having cooked for him initially after he liked some ‘fire’ pilau she had cooked.
