Harambee Starlets midfielder has officially joined Simba Queens amid contract dispute with FKF Women's Premier League giants Gaspo.

Kenyan international midfielder Elizabeth Wamboi has officially joined the Tanzania Women's Premier League powerhouse Simba Queens following a contractual dispute with her former club Gaspo Women FC.

The transfer saga between Gaspo and Simba took an unexpected twist as Wamboi bid farewell to her former team and expressed her gratitude for the support she received throughout her career.

Gaspo Women FC had previously accused Simba Queens of "player tapping," asserting that Wamboi was still under contract with them.

However, it appears that the dispute stemmed from unpaid wages, which eventually led to Wamboi's decision to leave Gaspo and seek new opportunities with Simba Queens.

Gaspo Women has now acknowledged Wamboi's departure, expressing their appreciation for her contributions to the team.

"It was so special to have Wamboi for the years that she's been with us. A great talent, we wish her the best in her new challenge," the club stated.

Prior to her move to Simba, Wamboi had been a pivotal figure for Gaspo Women FC, helping them secure a second-place finish in the league during the previous season.

She had also previously been on loan with Burundi champions Buja Queens, showcasing her talent and versatility on the pitch.

Wamboi took the decision to terminate her contract with Gaspo Women FC due to unpaid wages, a situation that had persisted for an entire season.

In her statement following her departure from the club, she expressed her gratitude to Gaspo for nurturing and developing her talent, as well as providing her with opportunities to play football at the highest level in Kenya.

"I am immensely thankful to all the trainers who played a pivotal role in my development as a player. To mention them individually would be a lengthy list, but they know who they are, and I appreciate their guidance and support," she wrote.

"I extend my gratitude to all my fellow players in Kenya who have been part of this incredible journey with me. I want to express my deep appreciation to my parents for their unwavering support, guidance, and love throughout my life."

Furthermore, Wamboi expressed her gratitude to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for facilitating her transfer and for their valuable contributions to the sport.
