Maina was spectacular to watch but he could not help Koln get all the three points against Heidenheim on Sunday.
Harambee Stars prospect Linton Maina had a decent individual performance but could not help his Koln side get back to winning ways against Heidenheim in a Bundesliga clash played on Saturday.
Maina was spectacular to watch on the dribble as he took on his full back four times, being successful twice, and also produced a combined expected goals and assist ratio of 0.35, showing he did try to create opportunities to put his team back on track.
The opening 20 minutes saw both sides not really test each other’s resolve until Denis Huseinbasic’s superb curling effort forced Kevin Müller into making a good save that sprung the game into life.

STARS ABROAD Clarke Oduor impresses as Bradford City are held away at Colchester
Harambee Stars midfielder Clarke Oduor could not help Bradford overcome Colchester, while Vincent Harper continued to be left out of Exeter’s recent struggles.
The resulting corner saw Davie Selke head narrowly wide from Florian Kainz’s delivery.
Moments later, Selke would net his first goal of the year after bringing a cross under control before he swiveled to pick out the bottom corner on the turn.
Straight after the restart, Maina had a great chance to double FC’s advantage. The winger raced through on goal but was unable to find a way past Müller in the Heidenheim goal.

Both teams had chances for the remainder of the match. Eren Dincki’s effort curled wide from 25 yards, with Kleindienst heading wide from close range after Jan-Niklas Beste’s free-kick took a deflection.
Jan Thielmann almost won the game for Koln late on, but his strong shot slipped through Müller’s hands, only to clip the post and fall in the grateful stopper’s hands.
