Kenya’s Junior Stars are convinced that they have what it takes to down Tanzania and claim a place in the CECAFA U18 Boys Championships final

Kenya’s Junior Stars remain focused on sealing a place in the CECAFA U18 Boys Championship final ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Tanzania at Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium.

Salim Babu’s boys have had an unblemished record so far, topping Group A with the maximum nine points after starting with a 5-0 thrashing of Sudan, followed by a 1-0 victory against Rwanda before demolishing Somalia 4-1.

Tanzania, meanwhile, went through courtesy of the principle of fair play after tying on points and goals with Zanzibar and Babu feels they do not pose a big threat to his side.

“We have prepared them [Junior Stars] well because we told them from the start we want to win the title. We do not care whether they are neighbours, whoever it is, we will try to put up a good display,” said Babu.

Kenya’s captain Amos Wanjala does not just want to win but to do it style, especially by keeping a clean sheet.

“The team is equally good, we are expecting a tough competition and we are very confident we will win the game,” said Wanjala.

“There is a lot of pressure from the fans and we are home so it is a must that we have to do our best and win that game.

“It also teaches us that we need to be strong at the back because part of the objective was to keep clean sheets until the end of the tournament but we have conceded once. We will continue working hard but we do not want to concede.”

The other semi-final will pit Rwanda, who finished second in Group A, against Group B table-toppers Uganda for a place in the final.
