FOOTBALL Kibuli SS retains USSSA Kampala football championship

Kibuli reclaimed the boys' football title with a 2-0 win over Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga thanks to two second-half goals from Kenneth Kimera and Davis Busuulwa.

Kibuli SS did not show signs of any hungover from their victory at the UMEA Solidarity Games, following it up by dominating at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Kampala Region finals at Mengo.

Kibuli reclaimed the boys' football title with a 2-0 win over Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga thanks to two second-half goals from Kenneth Kimera and Davis Busuulwa.

Kibuli held the upper hand in the first half with clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities, including a goal-line clearance and an effort that hit the crossbar.

Kimera gave his side the lead early in the second half, capitalizing on Bahirah Katende’s cross to beat goalkeeper Jordan Tusubira.

Moments later, Busuulwa tapped into an empty net after a quick counterattack, securing Kibuli S.S' victory.

Kibuli S.S head coach Emuron Recoba expressed his delight at the team's performance and result, stating in a post-match interview, “I am very happy for this performance and result.”

“The players gave their all in the entire tournament. We are now getting set for the national championships,” he added.

Kibuli S.S, Uganda Martyrs’ High School - Lubaga, Kawempe Muslim, Old Kampala, and debutants Mengo S.S will represent the Kampala region at the nationals.

In the girls' football final, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga emerged victorious over Kawempe Muslim with a 1-0 scoreline, thanks to Catherine Naggadya's all-important goal.

In other sports, Nabisunsa Girls school won the girls’ basketball gold after beating Kibuli S.S 55-18 in the final.

Kibuli S.S took the boys’ basketball gold while Aga Khan and hosts Mengo S.S settled for silver and bronze, respectively.

In the boys’ basketball final, Kibuli S.S defeated Aga Khan 62-36, while neighbours Kakungulu Memorial won the boys’ and girls’ hockey titles.
