Newcastle United have extended the contract of their right-back Kieran Trippier until 2025.
Newcastle United's top performer, Kieran Trippier, has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract extension.
The 32-year-old has been integral to Newcastle's successes this season, including their current top-four league position and their EFL Cup run, where they are one leg away from the final. He has now signed to extend his relationship with the Magpies, leading the long-term PIF consortium project for at least two more seasons.
Trippier extends with Newcastle
Trippier, whose previous contract with Newcastle expired in 2024, has renewed his contract for one more season, lasting him until the summer of 2025.
The club and the player announced via various mediums that they have agreed to extend their relationship, which has been mutually beneficial so far.
The new contract will keep Tripper, who is now 32, working until he is 34 and two months away from turning 35.
Trippier exceptional for Newcastle
The €14 million Newcastle paid Atletico for Trippier in the winter of 2022, as their first signing under the PIF-led consortium’s acquisition of Newcastle, foreshadowed how the new owners planned to operate.
Instead of a marquee sign to mark their territory and announce their presence, they sign a not-so-shiny hard worker who gets the job done.
It has laid the groundwork for the way they have gone about their business. They have been smart with their recruitment; a few big splashes here and there, but nothing too unreasonable, at least not as estimated in comparison to their relatively endless wealth.
They have signed many good players, but their 32-year-old premier deal still manages to be their standout performer.
The full-back is the Magpies' creator-in-chief, and although he is not the swashbuckling centre-back that defends in and around your box with gusto or the one that intelligently holds the offside line, Trippier is the leader of the best defence in the Premier League.
Newcastle have conceded the fewest goals in the league (11) and kept the most clean-sheets (12).
