According to Singida Big Stars' CEO Muhibu Kanu, Banda collapsed after colliding with a teammate in training; he was later rushed to hospital but unfortunately passed on.

The football family in Tanzania is still saddened by the unfortunate sudden demise of Singida Big Stars' U17 player Mohammed Banda.

According to Singida Big Stars' CEO Muhibu Kanu, Banda collapsed after colliding with a teammate in training; he was later rushed to hospital but unfortunately passed on.

"It is true, as you have heard, that our U17 player Mohamed Banda suddenly passed away after colliding with his fellow player in our team's training," said Kanu.

He added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased family during this difficult time."

Steven Billy Kiggundu, the goalkeeping coach at the club who worked closely with Banda, says it was a regrettable incident because the defender was destined for greater heights as a player.

"It is a regrettable event; Banda was a very talented upcoming defender; the few games I watched him play in showed he had matured as a footballer," Kigunddu told Pulse Sports.

"I also remember he turned out for Stand United under Matia Lule and the Tanzanian underage national teams. May his soul rest in eternal peace."

Banda, who was on loan at Mutibwa FC, was laid to rest on Monday in Iramba; he also previously featured for KMC, Adui FC.

Singida Big Stars FC sits fourth on the log with 47 points after 24 games.
