Despite financial backup from local technology firm Jukwaa the already relegated Kayole decided not to travel to Kisumu.

Kisumu All Starlets have been handed a walkover after their opponents Kayole Starlet failed to show up at Moi Stadium in Kisumu for the Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League match scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

All Starlets were set to host the relegated Nairobi-based side, but the visitors failed to show up at Kisumu in a shocking turn of events.

Instead, the players were spotted training at Calvary Grounds in Komarock for their other two remaining matches against Thika Queens and Ulinzi Starlets.

A sizable crowd had turned up at Moi Stadium in Kisumu to watch the match, but they were disappointed when Kayole failed to turn up.

Kisumu All Starlets had to issue a statement as an apology to the fans; "We are sorry to the fans who sacrificed their afternoon time to come to watch the ladies play.

No one trains for a walkover, this is disappointing to the ladies and football stakeholders."

Starlet chairman James Sakwa told the reporters that the management decided not to travel to Kisumu as they have turned the focus to life in Division One.

"We sat with the management and decided that we will not travel to Kisumu for the match. We are already planning for next season as we prepare for life in the Division One league," Sakwa said.

"We spent sh 120,000 to go to Trans Nzoia Falcons and we are not getting value for our money. When we signed a contract with our sponsors, we agreed that the remaining matches would be friendly. We feel there's no need to waste resources," he added.

Kayole Starlet were relegated with six matches left to be played, and they had already issued two more walkovers due to financial struggles.

However, at the end of April, they managed to get a sponsor, but despite the financial backup, they failed to register results in the past two matches.
