Ssenyondo previously coached at Mbarara between 2019 to 2021, and he is relishing the return to his former home.

Kitara FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo will return to his former paymaster, Mbarara City FC, when the two sides lock horns in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old tactician has underlined that he's fully aware of the threat posed by the hosts at their Kakyeka Stadium, where many teams have struggled to pick results.

This season, Mbarara has only lost once at home to NEC FC, while they have picked two wins and three stalemates, conceding just two goals.

"We go to Mbarara knowing it's a hard place to play when you look at this season and before, it's always hard to collect three points because they made their home a fortress," Ssenyondo said in the lead to their meeting.

Mbarara beat thirteen league champions KCCA FC 2-1 at Kakyeka last time out, while they held defending champions Vipers SC to a barren draw there.

However, Ssenyondo insists his team have made the necessary preparations to pick three points on enemy territory.

"We know it'll be hard, but we've prepared very well to come here and get maximum points, and that's what we have to do. It's a hurdle we have to jump."

"We've shown since the season started that we can go away and collect points, and that gives us confidence," he added.

Ssenyondo previously coached at Mbarara between 2019 to 2021, and he is relishing the return to his former home.

"They are my former paymasters, and I really appreciate them for that because they gave me my first appearance in the league as a coach. They gave me that opportunity."

Several players currently at Kitara have also previously played at Mbarara, including Paul Mucureezi, Jude Ssemugabi, Brian Aheebwa and many more.

"I give them the respect for that, but then that's done. Now I'm with Kitara; they have given me this opportunity, and I can only come to Mbarara and play some good football so that we can go back victorious," Ssenyondo said.

A win will lift Kitara to second on the table with 25 points, awaiting the results from Friday's blockbuster between runners-up Vipers SC and leaders BUL FC.
