The result leaves Kitara in the lead with 48 points, Nec moves to second with 47 as the Ankole Lions drop to third with 45. Police follow closely with 43 with a game at hand.

Kitara FC came from two goals down to share points with Mbarara City on Thursday at the Kigaaya Primary School playground in Hoima.

Jude Semugabi and John Kisaakye grabbed a brace as the two sides cancelled each other to keep the race tight at the top.

Early goal

The first real chance fell to Kitara but Maxwell Owachigu’s delivery was faster than Edson Agondeze’s feet.

The hosts were punished for poor defending in the 8th minute when Jude Semugabi pounced on a poorly cleared ball to finish home.

Sunday Godfrey had another chance 12 minutes later but his powerful shot skewed wide.

Kitara woke up and stepped up their push. Moses Sseruyidde curled a corner to Dudu Ramathan, only for it to fly above. Sseruyidde also saw his shot saved by Wycliff Manja, while Clinton Kamugisha’s attempt on the rebound was futile.

Super-sub

Coach Sam SSimbwa decided to introduce former Mbarara City captain Paul Mucureezi and John Kisaakye.

The latter paid the faith with two quick goals from the 85th minute including a last-minute penalty to share the spoils.

The first was a rebound after the keeper had stopped Mucureezi’s strike and then later through a penalty.

The result leaves Kitara in the lead with 48 points, Nec moves to second with 47 as the Ankole Lions drop to third with 45. Police follow closely with 43 with a game at hand
