Kitara boss Sam Ssimbwa has taken a sly dig at the officials in-charge of their 1-1 draw with Booma in the Bunyoro derby on Thursday by suggesting that a video assistant referee would’ve awarded him the victory.
Hope Aganyira put the visitors ahead at the stroke of normal time but Clinton Kamugisha scrapped a point for Sam Ssimbwa and Kitara in the fourth minute of added time.
Ssimbwa was particularly alluding to an 86th-minute incident where Swadiq Collensis rushed to clear a ball over the line.Kitara’s Edison Agondeze met an aerial ball with a goal-bound header. To his disappointment, Collensis stretched wide to clear with the referee waving calls for a goal.
“According to me, the goal entered but unfortunately, we don’t have the VAR. it’s not the result we wanted but a point is better than nothing,” he emphasised.
More time
Ssimbwa has now come under pressure after failing to win his first two league games as well as struggling to beat third-division side Uganda Pentecostal University in the Uganda Cup.
He has asked for more time as his new technical team and a number of new players fit into the team.
“I have just come and made one win and two draws but I believe with time, we shall gel and start winning. Rome was not built in the day. We shall be number one at the end of the season,” the coach promised.
Kitara will hit the road to Jinja next week to face Jinja North United at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe on Thursday.
