The Barcelona legend has repeatedly berated his time playing in Paris Saint-Germain
Lionel Messi’s time at Paris Saint-Germain was far from the dream many expected when he arrived from Barcelona.
After two seasons in the French capital, the Argentine legend left with more frustration than joy, and his description of the experience, in just two words, left little to the imagination.
Messi reflects on his time at PSG
Though Messi won two Ligue 1 titles and the Trophee des Champions during his spell at PSG, his failure to lead the club to Champions League glory combined with constant criticism and pressure made his stay in Paris less than enjoyable.
Messi recently opened up about his time in Paris during a conversation with Brecht Dejaegere after a match between Inter Miami and Charlotte FC.
When asked how he felt about his time at PSG, Messi used the blunt phrase, "la mierda," meaning "s**t" in English, to describe the two years he spent in the French capital.
It was a candid and unfiltered response from the World Cup winner, who clearly has little fondness for his two-year stint at Les Parisiens.
Messi compares PSG to Inter Miami
Dejaegere, who had faced Messi before while playing for Toulouse, shared that Messi was frustrated with the negative atmosphere at PSG, where he was often whistled and booed by fans.
Despite playing alongside stars like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, Messi found it difficult to adjust, and PSG's repeated Champions League failures only added to his frustrations.
Since leaving PSG, Messi has found a new lease on life in Major League Soccer with Inter Miami, where he has been met with warmth and admiration.
Messi has expressed his happiness with his move to the United States, where he has quickly become the face of MLS and helped Miami win the Supporters’ Shield.
