The coaches advised NFF to develop Nigerian coaches and give them enough time for better results.
The Chairman of the Lagos Football Coaches Association, Coach Hassan Tairu has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to encourage Nigerian coaches for the Senior National team's job.
The coach made the call in an interview with Pulse Sports at the Ghetto Tigers Football Club annual award ceremony.
Develop Nigerian coaches for better results – Tairu
Tairu advised NFF to develop Nigerian coaches and give them enough time for better results.
He added that Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro has not won any match since he was appointed to Nigeria's national senior team.
He said, “We are telling NFF to encourage Nigerian coaches, give them chances, and they will perform, we have a white man as a coach with six to seven games, and he has not won any. Let us develop Nigerian coaches and they will give us the results needed”.
Jose Peseiro Journey with Super Eagles
The Portuguese was appointed as the Super Eagles' head coach in May 2022.
He has taken charge of just six matches, recording two wins, three defeats, and a draw.
His two victories came in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe with 2-1 and 10-0 respectively.
The defeat was against Mexico, Ecuador, Portugal, and Algeria, in the international friendlies with the results 2-1,1-0, 4-0, and 2-1.
Super Eagles in 2022
The three-time African champions had a disappointing Last year (2022).
The team crashed out of the AFCON in the round of 16 after losing to Tunisia 1-0. Following the disappointing AFCON exit, the focus shifted to the World Cup playoffs against Ghana, which was a big deal.
But despite not losing in the two-legged tie, Nigeria failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022, missing out on the away goals rule after playing a 1-1 draw in Accra before playing a goalless draw in Abuja.
