FOOTBALL LaLiga and IBL hold social event in Kibera aimed at empowering vulnerable youth for better future

With this event LaLiga aimed to show its commitment to Kenya and East Africa to support kids that are coming from vulnerable and very humble backgrounds.

LaLiga in partnership with Intern Base League (IBL) Kibera hosted a social event at the slum on Wednesday aimed at supporting kids coming from very vulnerable backgrounds.

Kibera is a very big community with a lot of passion for football and LaLiga stakeholders believe there is a lot of potential and hidden talent that could be untapped with proper education, equipment and coaching can become great athletes, coaches managers or entrepreneurs in the football or sport industry. 

Beyond their talent the Spanish top division also aims to work on their life skills and character to become the best version of themselves. 

In order to do that, it has partnered  with the IBL that has been doing an amazing job in the last years on the ground, teaching good habits and motivating many young children in the area to continue a healthy life using sport as a vehicle for a better life and new opportunities.

LaLiga further aims at  organizing a yearly  schedule with different mentorship activities and capacity building workshops which  can create a big impact in the long term and further attract the attention of new partners coming on board. 

During the event, LaLiga organized a presentation for all the 128 girls who attended  the event alongside their coaches and mentors in order to showcase the activities that are being done in the region.

 that they can be involved from next season and encourage them to follow role models to improve their careers. 

It was followed by a workshop from Eliwa Foundation about menstrual health, preventing early pregnancies and gender-based violence.

The girls were able to interact with each other and go through mentorship sessions. They were also given  reusable sanitary towels,  as well as more merchandise.
