Manchester United lost to Brighton at the Amex stadium after a late penalty with the Seagulls moving into sixth position in the Premier League table.

Both teams were hoping to get a win and continue their charge for European football. However, it was Brighton who came out victorious after a last-minute penalty.

Both teams went neck to neck against each other but could not break the deadlock not until the second-half injury time when Brighton got a penalty which was converted by Alexis Mac Allister.

Has it happened

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi made four changes to his side that trashed Wolves last weekend while Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag also made four changes to his side that defeated Aston Villa at the weekend.

Both teams started the game brightly as they both created the first chance of the game. Man United winger Antony makes a yard for himself inside the box after an accurate pass and takes a shot that goes just wide of the right post.

Shortly after, a mistake at the back for Man United as Kaoru Mitoma steals the ball and runs towards the keeper pulls the trigger from close range, but David de Gea anticipates his intention and makes an amazing save to stop the shot.

The first half went on with both teams failing to take their chances as the referee blew the whistle for halftime.

The second half wasn’t different from the first half as both teams failed to take their chances. However, Brighton didn’t lose hope as they continued pushing to get a goal which paid off in the 94th minute of injury time.

A corner was played in by Brighton as Luke Shaw rose high to nod the ball but instead used his hand to get the ball away from the oncoming Brighton player. The incident was then reviewed by VAR who advised the referee to view the incident for himself on the screen.

Shortly after, the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty which was then converted by the World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister and snatched a late win for the home side.

Brighton has now moved into sixth position after this win as they continue pushing for European Qualification.
