The Vipers SC Director was, however, surprised when a one Arnold Katabi, through the Bunggle Kicks brand, donated to the St. Mary's Kitende team headed for Huye, Rwanda, to take part in the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Association (FEASSA) Games.

Former FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa has earned the respect of many due to his invaluable contribution to Ugandan sports.

From owning one of Uganda's elite football teams, Vipers SC, to running a top school (St. Mary's Kitende) that has also dominated sports in the country since its inception Mulindwa has a lot to give and continues to do so.

The Vipers SC director was, however, surprised recently when a one Arnold Katabi, through the Bunggle Kicks brand, donated to the St. Mary's Kitende team headed for Huye, Rwanda, to take part in the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Association (FEASSA) Games.

Katabi, who is the FUBA Vice President in charge of Media and Marketing, donated 15 pairs of sneakers to the Kitende basketball team and caught the attention of the man used to giving and not receiving.

"I would like to thank in absentia, there is a gentleman who donated to us some sports equipment in form of playing shoes I would like to thank him so much," Mulindwa said while flagging off the Kitende team to the Games.

"It is not very easy, it's a learning lesson. Me, I have seen players whom we have made here, in netball, football, they go outside, they eat money, they can't even donate a single pair of shoes," the Kitende Headmaster added.

"Giving is not all about having much, even if you gave me a button, don't say Mulindwa has, what can I give him? No, you can bring him a chocolate, I can buy chocolate there is nothing which I can't buy but that gesture of giving normally people don't take it seriously, but it means a lot.

"I do not take it lightly, I was very appreciative when I received that package."

Katabi is the head coach of Miracle Eaglets, one of the teams to have benefitted from Kitende's sporting excellence.

Three players on the Kitende team feature for the Eaglets in the National Basketball League, Mariam Namukwaya, Akello Winfred and Sylvia Nantongo.

The gesture by Katabi was a simple token of appreciation: “We want to appreciate Kitende for their contribution to our basketball organisation, but we also want to wish the School the best of success out there in Huye."

Led by head coach Boniface Okello Kitende will be looking to return from Huye with the title.
