Chelsea made their fans smile for the third time in one week following a third consecutive win in all competitions.
Chelsea travelled to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday, March 11.
The Blues were hoping to build on their second Premier League win of the new year when they faced the Foxes.
Graham Potter’s men started brightly and soon got rewarded with an early goal with form Foxes star Ben Chilwell firing home the opener against his former side to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
The Blues continued to be in control and thought they had doubled their lead after Joao Felix tucked home in the 35th minute.
But their celebrations were cut short as VAR ruled out his effort for offside moments later.
The hosts would eventually grow into the game and four minutes later, a moment of high-press would pay off after Felix was robbed off the ball in his own area, before Patson Daka latched on to a pass from Roberto Pereira to fire home for the hosts and level matters.
On the stroke of halftime, Leicester called for a penalty after alleging the ball was handled from a James Maddison freekick just outside the box.
But VAR would eventually dismiss their calls moments with four minutes of added time left to play in the opening period.
Chelsea responded really well to the leveller and soon restored their lead again in added time after Kai Havertz finished off brilliantly from a lobbed Enzo Fernandez pass.
The visitors would go into the break with a slender lead with Leicester aiming for a comeback in the second period.
Second Half
Leicester showed real promise in the second half, taking the game to Chelsea and creating some great chances for themselves.
However, for all of their chances, Brendan Rodgers men had a headache breaking down Chelsea’s defence.
Instead, the Blues found a third in the 78th minute after Mateo Kovacic latched on to a pass from Mykhailo Mudryk to put Chelsea 3-1 up.
The hosts suffered a setback late in the game after being reduced to 10 men, when Wout Faes was shown his second yellow card of the game.
In the end, Graham Potter’s held on for another crucial win in the Premier League, with Chelsea determined to fight for European spots ahead of next campaign.
