Leicester are disappointed that Enzo Maresca decided to leave the team after just one season, moving to Chelsea.

Maresca led Leicester to the Championship title and a Premier League promotion in his first senior position in English football.

However, despite his success, he has decided to move on from Leicester to open a new chapter in his career.

Maresca was officially announced as the next manager of Stamford Bridge on Monday, signing a five-year contract with the Blues.

Senior officials are saddened that Maresca chose to leave the club so quickly, leaving a slightly sour feeling at the club.

According to Daily Mail, Leicester's statement said, “Given the promising foundations established during his single season in charge, the Club is disappointed that Enzo has decided at this stage that he no longer wants to be part of our vision.

“However, with Enzo's decision made and the Board's terms for his departure met, we wish him well in his future endeavours.

“He leaves with the appreciation of everyone at the Club for his work in helping us to achieve an immediate return to the Premier League during the 2023/24 season.

“Staff members Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javier Molina Caballero and Roberto Vitiello will also be leaving the Club.

“The Board will now commence the process of appointing a new manager that will lead our return to the Premier League and continue the implementation of our long-term vision for the success of Leicester City Football Club.”

Maresca signed a three-year contract with Leicester a year ago, which contained a compensation clause worth approximately £10 million.

The Italian manager was supposed to lead Leicester City in the Premier League next season after their promotion.

However, everything changed when Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino split ways and Maresca emerged as the front-runner for the position and later went on to sign for the Blues.

Leicester are currently looking for a replacement for Meresca and have set their eyes on Carlos Corberan, West Brom manager.
