Who needs Caicedo and Lavia when you have Wataru Endo?
Premier League giants Liverpool have announced the signing of Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart on a €19 million deal.
Wataru Endo joins Liverpool
Endo joins The Reds on a four-year deal until 2027 as the last option for Liverpool after a string of failed midfield signings.
Liverpool were mocked for missing out on the signings of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, with both players moving to Chelsea instead, and also losing out on a deal for Sofyan Amrabat, who reportedly has eyes for Manchester United.
The Reds will still be happy with Endo even as a stop-gap measure, as the Japan international has impressed in his four seasons at Stuttgart.
Klopp happy with Endo signing
Endo has earned high praise from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who said, “I’m really happy. Wataru is a really good player.
“I know in this world of football how it goes and stuff like this, but have a look, have a look, because he’s a really good player.
The German manager extolled the new signing's quality, saying, “Experienced player, captain of Stuttgart, captain of Japan, speaks good English, nice fella, family man, machine on the pitch, good footballer on top of that, sensational attitude.
“So, I’m really happy. He’s a good footballer, very experienced, and loves to work extremely hard.”
Enzo will wear jersey number 3, formerly worn by Fabinho, who joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad this summer.
