Despite experiencing poor form, the Reds were able to put seven past the Carabao Cup winners.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said their 7-0 Premier League win over Manchester United could be the only thing they are remembered for this season.

On Sunday, March 5, the Reds outclassed their old rivals at Anfield as Mohamed Salah – who scored a brace - became the club's record Premier League goalscorer.

To Klopp, Liverpool need something special in order to get the best out of the current campaign, and should that not happen, their heavy win over the Red Devils will be the only thing they can be remembered for.

"If we don't do something really special, this season will be remembered for the 7-0 against Man United," Klopp said on Friday. "I hope people will speak about it, when they look back in a few years. We did what we did.

"We need to squeeze everything out and play the best possible football, play in a convincing way. Whatever happens until the end of the season will be very important.

"There is always something to improve, and that's fine, that's what we try to do as well."

The next assignment is a match against Tottenham Hotspur, and the Reds have a chance to win a fourth league game in a row for only the second time this season.

Klopp’s men also have an outside chance of making the top four, but remain seven points behind United who are fourth.

Despite their 2-1 fightback win over West Ham United on Wednesday, which gave them three wins in succession to extend their unbeaten run to five matches, Klopp is not convinced that they are a consistent side now.

"It is, for me, too early to speak about consistency," he added. "Winning three games is not consistent for me; it can only be the start of something.

"I am okay with the moment, but it is not that I already trust ourselves to say we are out of the woods because of a few lessons I didn't want to learn, but learned.

"For a long period, it was really good, even this season, but in general, what we have lacked is consistency, that's what we have to change and what we are working on."

Liverpool can still qualify for Europe but are a point behind Spurs in fifth.
