Liverpool have left Fabino out of the pre-season tour of Germany, and it appears only a matter of time before his transfer to Al Ittihad becomes official.

Liverpool are considering a move for Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat with Fabinho likely to join Al Ittihad for £40 million according to The Athletic.

The Brazil international has been a vital player at the heart of Liverpool’s midfield but he now looks to be on his way to Saudi Arabia after agreeing personal terms.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have left him out of the pre-season tour of Germany, and it appears only a matter of time before his transfer to Al Ittihad becomes official.

However, this could have a direct impact on United’s plans with The Athletic claiming that the Merseyside outfit are lining up a move for Fiorentina’s Amrabat.

The Anfield club want someone capable of stepping into Fabinho’s role, and view Amrabat as one of the options alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Kalvin Phillips.

Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia is deemed too ‘expensive’ for them while Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo is ‘expected’ to join Chelsea this summer.

The Moroccan had a fine 2022/23 campaign for club and country. He completed over 90 per cent of his passes while winning key duels from the number six role.

It has recently been reported that United are in ‘pole position‘ to sign the 26-year-old but as things stand, it is unclear whether the club have the funds to sign him.

The Red Devils have already spent £55 million on Mason Mount, and they are about to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan in a deal worth £43m plus add-ons.

This would take their spending spree to £98m. With a pre-sales budget of only £120m, United may need to offload players before they can purchase a marquee striker.

A holding midfielder may not be  a top priority for United for now, as the goalkeeping and striking departments may need more urgent addressing.

With this in mind, Liverpool could beat United to the signing of Amrabat, who is valued at £26m.

Amrabat has a strong relationship with manager Erik ten Hag after his senior debut under him at Utrecht. It remains to be seen whether the Dutchman can urge him to stay patient.
