It seems the fresh trim may have given him the confidence boost he needed to inspire his national side to a 3-1 victory in the early hours of Monday morning.
Nunez helps Uruguay with new look
Núñez, who has been in impressive form for Uruguay of late, bagging nine goals and one assist in his last six games, was made to wait until the 85th minute to get his name on the scoresheet.
But he made it count when he finally unleashed a fantastic left-footed strike to double his side's lead.
Nunez was beaming with his new look, which certainly seemed to turn heads on social media, with fans flooding Twitter to comment on the striking new style.
'Cast him to movies, this look is amazing,' wrote one user, while another added: 'Hairstyle will be very popular with many people!'
Despite missing a couple of big chances earlier in the game, Núñez's goal, and Uruguay's comprehensive victory, will no doubt have pleased his new manager Marcelo Bielsa, who saw his side prove too strong for a stubborn Panama outfit.
And with the Reds forward seemingly full of confidence following his eye-catching display, Liverpool fans will be hoping he can carry that form back to Anfield as the Reds look to mount a serious title challenge next season under new manager Arne Slot
