Mohamad Salah who was crowned FWA Player of the Year in the 2021/2022 season could not make the top three as he finished ninth.

In recognition of his outstanding debut season at Manchester City, Erling Haaland was chosen as player of the year by the Football Writers' Association.
The Norwegian won the award ahead of Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kevin De Bruyne and Marcus Rashford who completed the top five rankings.
