For the past two seasons, the combative holding midfielder has been a key player in the Young Africans team, anchoring the midfield well and providing leadership.

Uganda Cranes assistant captain Khalid Aucho is preaching love and support ahead of the 2023/2024 Tanzanian football season.

For the past two seasons, the combative holding midfielder has been a key player in the Young Africans team, anchoring the midfield well and providing leadership.

“Let’s love and support each other so that we give our fans the best they deserve this season,” Aucho tweeted on Monday.

The Jangweni-based side already got their season off to a winning start on Saturday when they beat South African giants Kaizer Chiefs 1-0, Zambian forward Kenneth Musonda scored the only goal on the day.

Young Africans have also beefed up their squad with valuable additions to the team, including Uganda Cranes defender Gift Fred, Taifa Stars midfield kingpin Jonas Mkude, Ivory Coast league MVP Pacos Zouzouza among others.

New head coach Angel Miguel Gamondi has his work cut out, joining a team which has won a back-to-back domestic treble and reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The target is reaching the CAF Champions League group stage.

Key to note, goal machine Fiston Mayele will not be part of the team, having decided to join Egyptian side Pyramids FC in a big money transfer.

Young Africans will have to replace the DR. Congo forward with a relatively better forward before the season gets underway.
