The towering versatile tax collector played a crucial role as his side picked up maximum points in the 2-1 win over his former paymasters Wakiso Giants on Wednesday at the Mehta stadium Lugazi.

Joshua Lubwama’s unexpected mid-season transfer from Wakiso Giants to URA FC got heads turning as many considered him a mainstay in the Purple Sharks dressing room.

The towering versatile tax collector played a crucial role as his side picked up maximum points in the 2-1 win over his former paymasters Wakiso Giants on Wednesday at the Mehta stadium Lugazi.

Kabon Living and Saidi Kyeyune scored for the hosts, while Kimbowa Shariph got the consolation for the visitors.

Lubwama says it was a good feeling to get one over his former employers, especially at this stage of the season.

“It was fantastic to win against them (Wakiso Giants FC); for me, it was a combined effort from all of us, but more so for me to enjoy the moment for which I am grateful,” Lubwama noted.

“This win is crucial because it gives us momentum to keep rising on the table and occupy the position where we belong.”

Equally, Saidi Kyeyune, who scored the winner, was also grateful for helping his side pick up their first home at the Mehta grounds in Lugazi.

“We did well. I am also happy that I scored as we won for the first time here in Lugazi this season,” Kyeyune said after the game.

“This is my home. I started from here when I joined URA FC as a youngster. We have to keep the momentum going," he added.

The win took Sam Timbe’s side to fifth position on 29 points after 20 games.
