Luis Diaz injury time strike secures a draw for Liverpool against stubborn Luton Town

Luton Town held Liverpool to a draw, with the Reds finding it hard to break down the hatters.

The newly promoted side went toe to toe with Jurgen Klopp's side and almost shocked them in the game.

They were only able to get a 1-1 draw which pushed Liverpool to move above Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Tahith Chong’s late goal looked like it had sealed the win for Luton Town but Luiz Dias' injury-time goal secured a draw for Liverpool.

As it happened

Luton made one change to the side that started their Premier League loss at Aston Villa last weekend as Andros Townsend came in to replace Jacob Brown.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also made one tweak to his starting line-up from the Premier League win against Nottingham Forest last weekend with Joe Gomez coming in for Kostas Tsimikas.

Liverpool dominated most of the possession from the start of the game, with Luton Town looking to make use of a counterattack.

However, Luton Town’s defence was too solid for the Liverpool players to penetrate, with the first half coming to an end.

Both teams came out for the second half and Liverpool continued from where they stopped in the first half, dominating the possession.

Despite their possession, it was the home team that got the first goal late in the game through a counterattack.

Ross Barkley carried it forward and Issa Kabore squares for Tahith Chong to slide the ball past the on-rushing Alisson.

Luton Town were hoping this would be their first home win of the season but were shocked when Luis Diaz jumped highest in the box to head past the keeper from Harvey Elliott's cross.

The referee blew the whistle for full-time as Luton Town are left without a home win in the Premier League.
