The Belgian striker embarks on a new journey, reuniting with a renowned coach in a highly anticipated football move.

Belgium international Romelu Lukaku has completed a season-long loan transfer to Serie A club AS Roma and revealed the club's ambition and raucous atmosphere attracted him to the Italian side.

The move comes after Lukaku's stint with Chelsea since 2021 and a successful loan spell at Inter Milan during the previous season.

Now, he embarks on a new chapter, teaming up with former Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho at the helm of the Giallorossi.

The 30-year-old  signing has stirred a fresh wave of excitement among the Roma faithful, who are eager to witness the synergy between the celebrated striker and the tactical acumen of Mourinho, who led Roma to the Europa League final last season.

In his debut statement as a Roma player, Lukaku expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge.

"The welcome I've received from this club and its fans has excited me and given me even more motivation to give my all for my new team. As an opponent, I felt the atmosphere of the Stadio Olimpico, and felt the warmth of the Romanisti. It's nice to know I'm a part of it today,” he said.

The decision to bring Lukaku into the fold was driven not only by his formidable on-field presence but also by the ambitious vision of the club's owners.

"I recently got the opportunity to speak with the owners, and I was impressed by their ambition. Now we must work, be humble, and grow game by game. For my part, I can't wait to be available to my teammates both on and off the pitch,” he revealed.

With 280 goals in 589 games and 93 assists to his name, Lukaku stands as a true testament to versatility and adaptability in attack.

His track record of success is extensive, having clinched titles with Anderlecht in the Belgian championship, the FA Cup and Club World Cup with Chelsea, and a triumphant haul including the Scudetto, Italian Cup, and Italian Super Cup during his time at Inter Milan.

Tiago Pinto, Roma’s General Manager, expressed his elation at the acquisition: "Knowing that Lukaku has chosen Roma can only bring us great satisfaction. With his arrival, we gain more experience, professionalism, and a drive to win."

Pinto emphasized the club's commitment to enhancing competitiveness and continuously evaluating player performances.

Lukaku is set to wear the No. 90 shirt for the Giallorossi, a number that carries with it an air of excitement and high expectations.
