Alexis Mac Allister's red card against Bournemouth has been rescinded, with the midfielder now available to face Newcastle this weekend

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is set for an early return after a successful appeal of the red card he received during the Reds’ 3-1 win over Bournemouth this weekend.

Mac Allister suspension rescinded

The Argentine World Cup winner was sent off with a straight red card in the 58th minute of Liverpool’s match against Bournemouth following a reckless challenge, but a decision has now been made to rescind the red card.

Mac Allister was due to miss up to three matches due to the nature of the red card, but will now be available for the Reds’ next fixture against Newcastle.

Liverpool appealed the red card issued by Thomas Bramall, and the FA accepted the club’s appeal, deeming the decision a mistake by the referee.

The club announced the successful appeal on social media platform X, noting that the midfielder will be available for the club’s trip to St. James’ Park on Sunday.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool this summer from Brighton in a £35 million pound deal and is thought to be one of the more important first-team players in the club’s set-up and new-look midfield.

He became a prime target for the Reds after winning the World Cup with Argentina and has featured in both of Liverpool’s Premier League games this season from the start, and now has the chance to make it three in a row after having his suspension rescinded by an Independent Regulatory Commission.
