The Black Stars were no match for their counterparts from South Africa in the Group C battle.
Ghana's journey at the 2022 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, CHAN, has gotten off to the worst start as Madagascar registered a first win in the competition.
The Black Galaxies as they are known were shocked 2-1 in the Group C encounter by their counterparts from Madagascar in Constantine on Sunday night.
The game in brief
Two goals in either half propelled the South Africans to a famous win despite a late goal from their West African challengers.
Madagascar took the lead against Ghana after the Black Galaxies failed to clear their lines. The goal was scored by Solomampionona Razafindranaivo to put Madagascar 1-0 up at the break.
After the break, Madagascar extended their lead after defender Rqndolph's weak back pass to his goalkeeper allowed Tokinantenaina Randriatsiferana to score against the run of play.
Ghana dominated proceedings but struggled to cause any real problems for Madagascar with over 60% possession.
The Galaxies did pull a goal back later on through substitute, Augustine Agyapong with 20 minutes left on the clock. But it turned out to be a consolation as Madagascar held on for a incredible win.
