Magera stressed that during the first round, the players understood the assignment but added they have to be strong mentally and physically in the second round.
Sports Club Villa manager Jackson “Nelly” Magera can afford a smile for now.
The record league winners’ tactician was named the Pilsner coach for December beating off competition from BUL FC’s Alex Isabirye and KCCA FC’s Morley Byekwaso a feat he puts down to team effort.
“I am so grateful because it’s not so easy to emerge the best among the 16 coaches and the three who were nominated," Magera said in his acceptance speech.
"So I thank God, my technical team, my mentor Mike Mutebi and one of my managers Subika Collins, they have done a lot as far as my coaching career is concerned.”
“As for the performance of the team, the credit goes to the togetherness, we win and lose as one,” he added.
Magera stressed that during the first round, the players understood the assignment but added they have to be strong mentally and physically in the second round.
“The players had proper game intelligence, they knew what to do with and without the ball. For the second round, we have to fight more because every game will be a final."
"The players have to be strong tactically, mentally and physically because my target is to be in the top four.”
Fifth placed Villa who are expected to beef up their squad in the midfield and forward line kick start their second round campaign at home against Onduparaka FC.
