He announced himself in Uganda Cranes colours with the winners in the 1-0 win over Tanzania , that was in the first leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in Dar es Salaam.

Possessing natural talent is not uncommon, but to grow and fully execute one's abilities needs special nurturing.

It is under this context that SC Villa's head coach Jackson Magera rates youngster Travis Mutyaba's God-given football abilities.

Magera trusts and asserts that the Jogoo attacking midfielder is inherently gifted, yet well-guided.

“He has systematically grown in terms of football," Magera told Pulse Sports in an exclusive interview.

"I was his coach together with the U15 team and we won the inaugural CECAFA tournament hosted by Eritrea in 2019.”

“He was one of the best players of the tournament. He scored a couple of goals and managed assists during that competition and trust me I immediately anticipated that he was going to become a great player.”

“After that, he joined the U17 team so his growth is systematic and he is not where he is by accident,” Magera added.

Mutyaba is one of the most important players in the young Villa squad that currently lies fifth in the Uganda Premier League.

He announced himself in Uganda Cranes colours with the winners in the 1-0 win over Tanzania , that was in the first leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in Dar es Salaam.

"I am not surprised at all with what he is doing right now because I am one of his coaches from a tender age and even now at club level," noted Magera.

At the finals in Algeria, Mutyaba had three substitute appearances where put up impressive displays, despite late cameos for all.

From CHAN, he linked up straight with the Uganda Hippos squad that is preparing for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations due February 19th to March 11th in Egypt.

Mutyaba will be an integral part of Jackson Mayanja's team as they target at least a semifinal slot which will guarantee them qualification to the U20 FIFA World Cup in Indonesia later this year.

Finalists in 2021, the Hippos are in Group B alongside Congo, South Sudan, and Central African Republic (CAR), they will get their tournament underway against the latter on February 20th.
