Manchester United are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez.
Manchester United want to strengthen their defence by bringing in personnel for the position, and they are said to have marked out Atletico Madrid's Jose Maria Jimenez for possible acquisition.
The 28-year-old centre-back joined the Rojiblancos from Uruguayan side Danubio FC in 2013 and was billed for greatness and positioned to be the next Diogo Godin.

FOOTBALL Manchester United refute claims that four stars were involved in a furious dressing room bust-up after Brighton defeat
The Red Devils have come out to deny reports that a section of their players were involved in a fight following last weekend’s loss to the Seagulls
Following the exit of his compatriot from Atletico, Gimenez struggled to fill his shoes and had struggled with injury and, at times, form. His prominence has now waned in the side, and a move to Manchester United could come as a breath of fresh air.
Why Man United want Gimenez
The Red Devils pushed to sign a centre-back in the summer at the request of Erik ten Hag, but per reports, their finances mandated a sale be made before any such acquisition.
Harry Maguire, who joined the club for a record €87 million fee, was put on the market given his struggles. West Ham made a move for Maguire, but the deal fell through, with the player stating that a deal could not be made.
However, following recent events with the England national team that prompted his mother to come to his defence, the player could be even more welcoming to a move away from the glare of being a Manchester United player.
A possible exit opens up a slot in Manchester United’s options in the position, and according to Fichajes, Gimenez, who is on a contract with Atletico Madrid, is viewed as a viable option.
