The Brazilians drew 2-2 with Wydad at home and were eliminated from the competition on the away goals rule, having played out a goalless draw in the first leg.

The saying 'fall seven times, get up eight' is one Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena exemplified following his side's semifinal elimination from the CAF Champions League by Wydad on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilians drew 2-2 with Wydad at home and were eliminated from the competition on the away goals rule, having played out a goalless draw in the first leg.

"Wydad have a lot of experience; they capitalized on their moments," Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena noted before adding.

"But congrats to my boys for a good job done that even if we lost, I am proud of them for a great run in the Champions League."

"We will win it again (CAF Champions League) for sure we just have to learn from these experiences and go again; we shall be better next time," he added.

Masandawana have fallen short thrice at the semifinals stage in their quest to win another title and will launch another shot next season, which will be their sixth consecutive season in the interclub competition.

Wydad Casablanca will now defend their title against Al Ahly, a team they beat in 2022 in a one-off final 2-0.

The first leg will take place on 4th June in Cairo before the return leg seven days later.

Al Ahly is chasing a record 11th continental title while the Moroccan club are chasing their fourth title.
