Manchester City have one less thing standing in the way of their first UEFA Champions League title after Yaya Toure reportedly lifts the curse he placed on manager Pep Guardiola

Manchester City have received an unusual boost to their chances of winning the UEFA Champions League this season after it was revealed that former midfield star Yaya Toure has lifted the curse he placed on current manager Pep Guardiola.

Toure curses Guardiola after strained final season

Guardiola and Toure fell out after the former Ivory Coast midfielder deemed that the Spanish manager had done "everything to spoil [his] last season" at Manchester City in order to push him out of the club.

Toure even accused Guardiola of covert racism, saying he would offer the Manchester City manager a cake if he ever selected five African players for his team.

In the wake of Toure’s anger and comments, his controversial agent, Dimitri Seluk, suggested that the Ivorian legend had placed a curse on Guardiola with 'African shamans' which would stop the Spanish manager from ever winning the UEFA Champions League again.

Since the alleged curse, Manchester City has failed to win the UEFA Champions League with Guardiola in charge, losing a final and semifinal despite being favourites on both occasions.

They have a chance of finally getting their hands on the big-eared trophy this season after reaching their third consecutive semifinal, and Seluk has put his weight behind them to finally be victorious.

The Ukrainian agent was quoted by the Mirror as saying, “I want to apologise for this matter. I think it is time for this bitterness to stop – and I know that Yaya feels the same because he wishes nothing but success for the Cityzens.

“I can say that the spell has now been lifted by the shamans – and that I think City will win the Champions League under Pep.

Seluk even went ahead to predict how soon Manchester City will win the UCL, saying, “They have a good chance of winning it this year. But whatever happens, they will definitely win it in the next three years.”

Manchester City face Real Madrid in the semifinals this season, hoping to erase the painful memories of last season, when they capitulated and lost to Los Blancos at the same stage.
