Ilkay Gundogan scored twice for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola's men defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final to keep their treble hopes alive.
Manchester City won their second trophy of the season and kept their treble bid on with a nail-biting 2-1 win over Manchester United. City skipper Ilkay Gundogan scored twice, either side of a Bruno Fernandes penalty to deliver the trophy to the blue side of Manchester.
How it happened
City started the game in tremendous fashion, taking the lead inside the first minute.
Stefan Ortega in the Man City goal, sent a long kick that was flicked on by Erling Haaland into the path of Gundogan who sent an unstoppable volley past the stranded David De Gea to send the City fans into raptures.
Manchester United fans would have feared the worse from that moment and City continued to push forward in search of a second but Ten Hag's men defended as well as they could.
Man City dominated for long periods but conceded an equaliser when VAR intervened to award United a penalty for a handball on Jack Grealish. Fernandes stepped up to convert.
Gundogan winner
City started the second half looking to reassert their dominance and did so just 6 minutes after the restart.
Gundogan who seems to show up for the biggest games, guided another volley beyond a partially unsighted De Gea from 25 yards.
United went close to an equaliser through Marcus Rashford and substitute Alejandro Garnacho but they could not find the goal to force extra time as City completed the domestic double.
