Chukwueze too hot for Man City
The 25-year-old winger, who joined Milan from Villarreal last year, managed just a solitary goal in his first season at the San Siro, leaving many to question whether he had what it takes to thrive in the Italian top flight.
However, Chukwueze, regarded as the funniest player in Milan, emphatically silenced his critics, as he orchestrated Milan's thrilling 3-2 victory over Pep Guardiola's star-studded City side.
The Nigerian international was the undisputed star of the show, creating two of the three goals that secured the win for the Italian giants.
It was a masterclass from Chukwueze, who showcased his exceptional vision, creativity, and attacking prowess.
The winger's incisive passes and intelligent movement caused the City defence all sorts of problems, and he was instrumental in both of Milan's goals before the break.
Despite City taking the lead through a clinical finish from Erling Haaland, Chukwueze's influence soon turned the tide in Milan's favour.
His teasing cross was headed home by Lorenzo Colombo to level the scores, and the Nigerian then played a key role in the Italian's second goal, with Colombo again on the scoresheet.
While City managed to draw level in the second half through James McAtee, it was Chukwueze's creative spark that ultimately proved the difference before substitute Marco Nasti netted the winner for the Rossoneri.
The performance will undoubtedly have sent the right message to the Milan bench and fans, as Chukwueze reminded everyone of his immense potential.
After a difficult debut season in Italy, the Nigerian winger has emphatically silenced his doubters early on and showcased the kind of talent that made him one of the most sought-after young players in Europe.
Milan fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of Chukwueze continuing to spearhead their attack next season in the Serie A where they have been handed a tough opener for the 24/25 season.
And with the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers just around the corner, the Nigerian international will be eager to translate his club form onto the international stage, as he looks to cement his place in the Super Eagles' squad.
