Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona but Arsenal have become serious contenders to land the midfielder in recent days.
Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is set to become a free agent this summer and no agreement has been reached on a new deal with Manchester City.
Gundogan's Manchester City future
That uncertainty has led to speculation that he could leave the club at the end of the current campaign with Barcelona strongly linked.
Recent reports from The Athletic revealed that Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta will attempt to convince Gundogan to swap Manchester for London this summer.

Gundogan picks Barcelona
However, a fresh report from Spanish outlet Sport has claimed that Gundogan's preference would be a move to Barcelona, who made contact with the midfielder over a deal 'long before' his other suitors.
It is also claimed that Gundogan 'intends' to reside in Spain, rather than extend his stay in the Premier League.
According to Mirror Football, Arteta is not giving up and will hope to convince the Manchester City ace to join him at the Emirates in a face-to-face meeting at the end of the season.
