Nemanja Vidic thinks Andre Onana, who joined Manchester United in the summer from Inter Milan, has all he needs to be successful at Old Trafford.

Onana was signed by Man United from Inter Milan for a fee worth £47 million after letting De Gea leave on a free transfer.

David de Gea, who had been United's first-choice goalkeeper for more than ten years, was dropped by Erik ten Hag after failing to agree on a contract extension.

The pressure is now on the Cameroonian international to live up to the price tag that was paid to sign Onana away from Inter Milan.

However, Vidic believes Andre Onana will succeed at Old Trafford following his exciting Premier League debut against Wolves earlier this week.

Vidic explains his reason

Vidic, who led United as a player under Sir Alex Ferguson, is sure that Onana's background in big games would help him succeed at Old Trafford.

Onana was a vital member of the Inter team that advanced to the Champions League final the previous season.

Vidic told Manutd.com as reported by the Mirror, after Onana's dramatic Premier League debut against Wolves earlier this week, “I’m expecting him to be a good replacement for David.

“We know how David was important for the squad for many years, but I think Onana can bring something different and, as well, to be important for us in the years to come.

“He was in Inter, he has the experience of playing in a big team, and before [that] he was in Ajax, so all those teams have a winning mentality and they are challenging for the trophies.

“He’s ready to be part of the squad. And he’s ready to compete on a big level.”

Onana made several excellent stops in United's season-opening game, but he was also the subject of some late controversy as he knocked Sasa Kalajdzic to the ground in the penalty area.

The goalkeeper's careless challenge, fortunately, went unpunished for Manchester United as they defeated Wolves 1-0.

On Saturday, one of the most important weekend games will take place as the Red Devils visit North London to play Tottenham.
