Schmeichel slams Martinez
After the game, Schmeichel criticised centre-back Martinez's defensive play, saying he ought to have been more aggressive in trying to stop Gross from scoring Brighton's second.
He said as reported by Daily Mail, “It is kind of what happens at Manchester United at the minute, it is very individual,' the former goalkeeper said to Premier League Productions.
“Players, for instance, Martinez here, are trying to be a hero and get in and block,' he added, as he recalled the side's defending for the second goal.

PREMIER LEAGUE Ten Hag agrees with Man United legend’s criticism of Lisandro Martinez for ‘trying to be a hero’ in Brighton defeat
Martinez was particularly sloppy with his defending in the defeat to Brighton which prompted the former goalkeeper into cannibalizing him for ‘trying to be a hero.’
“People know this. If we look at him there, he puts himself in a position directly in the line of the goalkeeper.
“He should be closing down rather than just stood up trying to block. If you want to block, don't turn your body, stand tall. Clearly, things aren't right for Manchester United.”
During the game, the 25-year-old failed to block Simon Adringa's cross which found Welbeck in the area and the striker poked the ball home to give the Seagulls the lead.
The Argentine also overcommitted himself with Brighton midfielder Gross having time to avoid him and fire his shot straight past the goalkeeper.
