Man Utd legend Edwin Van Der Sar out of intensive care after suffering brain haemorrhage

Edwin Van Der Sar announced that he is no longer in intensive care and thanked his supporters for their support.

The Man United legend was flown to a Croatian hospital on July 7 with a brain bleed before being returned home last Friday.

It was said that he was suffering from a brain haemorrhage and was in intensive care and monitored by specialists.

However, Edwin van der Sar posted an update from the hospital alongside wife Annemarie as he was released from intensive care.

Edwin Van Der Sar gives update on his health

After leaving intensive care, the former goalkeeper shared a photo of himself and his wife Annemarie grinning on social media.

He wrote the following touching message alongside the photo as reported by the Sun, "First of all, we want to thank everyone for all the great and supportive messages.

"I’m happy to share that I’m no longer in the intensive care unit. However, I’m still in the hospital. I hope to go home next week and take the next step in my recovery!"

Annemarie gives an update on Van Der Sar’s health

His wife Annemarie also gave an update about Van Der Sar’s health and thanked the University Hospital of Split for their support.

Annemarie provided an update over the weekend as reported by the Sun, saying, "The Van der Sar family would like to express their deep gratitude to the ‘University Hospital of Split’ for their great care during the last week."

The Man United legend made 266 appearances for the Red Devils winning several trophies during his playing days before retiring in 2011.

The Red Devils also posted on social media after learning of his brain haemorrhage, "Sending all our love and strength to you, Edwin."

Van der Sar and his wife Annemarie have been married for 17 years, and they have a son named Joe who is 25 years old.
