Manchester City are reportedly planning a midfield overhaul in the summer and have renewed their interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Declan Rice is set to be a major topic in the summer with the 24-year-old having just two years left on his deal at West Ham.
The expectation at this point is that Rice moves on in the summer, potentially to a club playing Champions League football.
Chelsea were rumoured to be a potential landing spot for Rice but the acquisition of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica and the Blues' insistence on offering N'golo Kante a new contract means the talks have now cooled.
Arsenal recently emerged as front-runners and the Gunners are expected to make a move at the end of the season.
Man City keen on Declan Rice
However, according to 90min football, Manchester City are now exploring the idea of a move for Declan Rice.
The champions are facing up to the possibility of losing both Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in the summer and are making adequate preparations.
Gundogan is out of contract in the summer and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal and Silva has never hidden his desire to pursue a new challenge.
The future of summer signing Kalvin Phillips is also uncertain at this stage given his inability to stay fit and his lack of minutes so far.
Rice would be perfect for Man City
Rice would be perfect for Guardiola given his ability to perform multiple roles in a midfield setup. He can excel as a box-to-box midfielder as well as a deep-lying playmaker.
He reads the game perfectly and is adept at breaking up play. Regardless of where Rice ends up, one thing is certain, West Ham will demand a lot of money to countenance a sale for the talented England International.
