Foden could become one of the highest-paid players in world football with a new contract offer from Manchester City
Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly set to offer Phil Foden a groundbreaking new contract worth an astonishing £375,000-a-week, making him the highest-paid British player ever.
The new deal would see the 24-year-old England international's weekly earnings rival those of his current teammates Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, making him one of the top earners in world football.
Foden rewarded for excellent season with bumper contract
The proposed contract would extend until Foden's 30th birthday in 2030, ensuring his long-term future with the club he has been with since childhood.
With De Bruyne sidelined by injury for much of the season, Foden emerged as Manchester City's main creative force as they coasted to a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Foden's impressive contributions included 19 goals and eight assists in 35 appearances, leading to his first Football Writers' Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards and now a new contract.
Manchester City keen to repel Real Madrid advances for Foden
In 2022, Foden demonstrated his loyalty to Manchester City by signing a five-year contract worth over £200,000-a-week, including bonuses. However, his exceptional form and rising profile have attracted attention from top clubs across Europe, including 15–time Champions League winners Real Madrid, prompting City to offer an even more lucrative deal to retain their star player.
According to The Sun, the proposed contract aims to reward Foden for his new-found status and fend off any potential suitors and the improved terms will reflect his importance to the team and ensure he remains a central figure in Guardiola's plans for years to come.
At the moment, Foden’s focus will be with the England national team as he aims to carry the Three Lions to victory in Euro 2024 as he did with Manchester City in the Premeir League.
